The Young Academy Music School Brings Joy to Pinner Care Home Residents
- December 18, 2015
A group of talented children from Pinner’s Young Academy Music School raised the roof at Abbottsford Care Home on Sunday afternoon, 6th December. The children – aged from 5 to 17 – gave an outstanding concert of piano, singing and flute solos. They finished with some beautiful carols sung by the junior and senior choirs.
Barbara Young, the director of the school, said, ‘I want to encourage young people to share their talents with the community. It is also important to create a vibrant and stimulating atmosphere for the residents.’
After the concert, the children and the residents shared a delicious tea provided by the home. Karen Spanswick-Smith, the manager of the home, said ‘Since many of the elderly residents miss seeing children on a regular basis, they have really benefitted from interacting with the young people this afternoon’.
